Jay Mehta, Vice President – Technology

Jay Mehta was in the tenth grade when he first saw a demonstration of how the computer and programming worked together. Growing up in Gujarat, India, there wasn’t a lot of information about these new technologies—other than they could become a global system of interconnected computer networks that talked to the world—and so Mehta’s curiosity peaked. At a minimum, he saw that the computer provided answers to many questions, which could keep an inquisitive young mind occupied for weeks at a time. In the larger scheme of things, it could lead to a life and career of boundless discovery.
Mehta is on that path now. After completing a degree in computer engineering from Gujarat University, India, he set his sights on becoming an expert in information technology. With more than 20 years experience in the industry, he leads FutureNet Group’s multiple teams, making sure that each person is using leading edge technology initiatives to safeguard client assets, maintain their data, and achieve client’s goals and objectives.
Throughout his career, Mehta has successfully supported multiple professional, technical and information technology services and support for various federal, state and city government agencies. He is experienced in ITIL, CMMI, procurement/contract management, process improvement, and stakeholder management and collaboration.
These days, he’s supplementing his thirst for technology by reading more and more industry publications and adding a healthy dose of leadership books to his knowledge bank, like Good to Great by Jim Collins, a book that highlights how important it is for companies to think differently about technology to achieve astounding results.
It’s an idea that was planted early in Mehta’s life and is at the core of one of the most valuable lessons he learned in the tenth grade: the computer offers a realm of possibilities if the curious mind seeks them out.
