It all started with President and CEO, Perry Mehta, whose entrepreneurial aspirations were first realized during his formative years. While working for another firm, Mehta spent his nights and weekends building the firm that would later earn millions of dollars in revenue. When FutureNet Group opened its doors in 1994, it began specializing in Information Technology in the U.S. and overseas.
2003
The company goes through a new strategic planning process and expands into the construction, engineering and environmental industries. Dee Mehta joined the firm.
2004 – 2007: The growth years
FNG gets certified as SBA 8(a) company and starts working with the City of Detroit, Planning and Development Department, performing lead inspection and clearances for single and multi-family homes, and residential buildings. The company embraces an aggressive strategic plan to seek out small projects that would help broaden awareness of its capabilities, while increasing business.
Henry Shah comes on board as an environmental consultant and senior project manager, working on environmental assessments for the Detroit RiverWalk project, Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and its partners. After exceeding clients’ expectations, FNG was awarded additional contracts with Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, leading to baseline environmental assessments of all 12 parcels of Detroit RiverWalk from RenCen to Gabriel Richard Park.
FNG is certified by U.S. Government Services Administrations Schedule (GSA), allowing the company to competitively bid on the construction and renovation of government buildings.
2005
Technology division ramps up and brings on Michigan’s Oakland County Health Division to do Tracking and Automation Software Development. Became Phase I environmental consultant for Book Cadillac Building; won bid to perform asbestos abatement and air monitoring on the Lower Granite Dam, in Pomeroy WA; started working with Detroit U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (DACE); U.S. Army TACOM; Connecticut Air National guard. Employees grow to 12.
2006
Company purchases an abandoned warehouse in Detroit and after extensive renovations, it becomes its national headquarters. Technology contracts are signed with the City of Detroit, U.S.Dept of Veteran Affairs and Infosoft Consultants; Environmental division completes last phase of Detroit RiverWalk project with Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. Larger federal contracts are won. Number of employees grows to 20+.
2007
Environmental division continues to grow with contracts for Indefinite Delivery in Quality (IDIQ) with DACE New Orleans District Army Corps of Engineers (NODACE). Started construction with Detroit Planning and Development Department, constructing 30-40 single and multi-family homes and emergency construction services. Several new Technology clients come on board: Detroit Housing and Urban Development (DHUD), Cityof Ecorse, AAA Michigan, Daimler Financial Corp, and the Next Vision Foundation. Employees: 30+.
2008 - 2009: A time of multi-year contracts and awards
Our competitive value propositions, which were based on our abilities to submit fair and reasonable technical and professional proposals, open the door to more RFPs. Our competitive bids win us numerous task orders to provide a variety of different types of demolition, renovation and construction services.
FNG earns multi-year contracts to perform Medical and Radiology transcription Services at several government facilities; DACE is extended, as well as contracts with the City of Detroit. Fort Jackson and Huntsville Army Corps of Engineers contracts are won. Technology division brings in other federal contracts including U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Out of town contracts grow to 40+.
